In too many instances, children are taken from a bad situation, only to be put in a similar or worse environment. This traumatic cycle only adds difficulty to their journey and can result in even worse trauma.
Adding to this, when our judicial system is soft on child predators and only assigns them light sentences or punishments, it’s too easy for the predators to return to their evil ways and continue harming children.
While Veterans For Child Rescue’s main mission is to expose and eradicate child trafficking in the USA, an important component of any rescue mission is to ensure the victims are sent to a safe place for rehabilitation. It’s crucial that these facilities are run by trustworthy individuals who go above and beyond to ensure the survivor’s safety, privacy, and wellbeing and provide an environment that fosters healing and recovery.
Healing from any traumatic event - and especially something as horrific as child abuse and trafficking - is no easy feat. It’s a lifelong journey that’s unique to each person and has many layers.
Having a solid support system is invaluable. While the support of family and friends makes a world of difference, there’s nothing like having professional support.
Rancho Milagro Foundation is a beautiful ranch situated in northeast Scottsdale, AZ. They use equine therapy and various forms of coaching to provide a place of refuge and healing for survivors of abuse and trauma. Their therapeutic programs are designed to heal and rejuvenate all aspects of an individual’s mind, body and spirit.
“Horses deliver a distinct sensitivity that participants relate to in order to bring trust and healing. A horse’s keen sense mirrors the environment to provide valuable coping tools. Participants leave feeling revived and refreshed because of this unique approach to therapy.”
“As a child of abuse, I found my only refuge was with my animals and I’ve had a healing vision ever since to bring this gift to others. By using my trauma recovery as a guide, God has given me a passion to help others who have suffered from severe abuse. Horses saved my life and now I am thankful and ready to help others start their journey to their own personal recovery.”
